1. Function:

In modern strip rolling mills lines, hydraulic AGC (Automatic Gauge Control) system has replaced the old electric screw-down AGC system. Hydraulic AGC system uses a pair of hydraulic screw-down/up cylinders (one for each side of the mill) to change the gap between the work rolls and the rolls act on the strip by generating a rolling force to control the thickness of the strip and keep the desired flatness of the strip.

The GK series hydraulic AGC (Automatic Gauge Control) system developed by ABLYY is a revolutionary solution for rolling mills. It is widely used in hot strip rolling mills with excellent performance of stability, accuracy, and simplicity.

The hydraulic AGC system is based on high performance computers and network technology and powerful software features and realizes all-digital thickness control.

Position control and pressure control respectively aimed roll gap and rolling pressure of the roller cylinder constitute a basic control inner loop of AGC system, and it can be up to μm class of integrated control accuracy. Thickness control (thickness closed-loop control) aims steel strip thickness at the exit of the mill, which constitutes a comprehensive controlling outer loop of AGC.
